Are you struggling to get up the courage to ask the attractive girl in your French class to go to a game with you? Are you debating whether calling, writing a letter, or texting would be the best way to show her your feelings? These tips may not snag you a date, but they can help keep you from doing something to hurt your reputation with the girls.
1. Covertly obtain her phone number without asking her.
Sure, maybe you know a friend who knows her cousin who’s willing to give you her number. But especially if you don’t know her well in person, she’s probably going to be a bit weirded out when you call her and ask her to go to a concert with you.
2. Ask her out in front of her boyfriend.
And if you’re foolish enough to do this, get ready to run. Enough said.
3. Buy her flowers she’s allergic to.
If she’s allergic to carnations, she’ll be sneezing up a storm the entire time she’s holding your flowers and trying not to be rude. If you find out she’s allergic to carnations, you could buy her roses instead. Of course, you probably don’t want to buy a dozen red roses right away.
4. Talk about all your former relationships right off the bat.
“I dated this one girl for 2 months and broke it off, and then I dated another girl for 3 weeks. She broke up with me yesterday. Will you go out with me?” Not the best way to build rapport with a girl.
5. Ask her to go to an expensive restaurant, and then forget to bring your wallet.
Then ask her if she wouldn’t mind footing the bill for the multiple appetizers and the steaks that you both just devoured.
6. Invite her to your house and cook a meal for her the very first date.
Something is inevitable to go wrong. You’ll burn the chicken to a not-so-tasty black crisp or forget to add salt to your homemade rolls. She’ll eat politely and say nice things but inwardly think about your complete inability to cook. Of course, on the flip side, she could feel sorry for you and want to rescue you from eating mediocre cooking. But don’t count on it.
7. Sneak up behind her and scare her by yelling in her ear.
Then laugh when she jumps and say how cute she looked. Finally, ask her if she would like to go out with you for coffee. Most likely, she will probably think that you would scare her and make her spill her coffee. Point blank, she’ll probably say no.
8. Refer to a book of pickup lines to ask her out.
Check the front cover closely. Most likely, the book is a joke book and not intended for real-life use. “If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together.” No, don’t use it.
9. Sit down with her and her friends without an invitation.
Grab the chair next to her to make sure you can be close. Then barge in on a conversation and pretend to be a part of the group.
10. Propose the very first time you meet her.
“Hey, I know we just met 5 minutes ago, but I feel we really have a connection together. We both love spinach rolls and deep sea fishing! Will you marry me?” Wait until you get to know her more—hopefully a lot more.
