There are over 60 public colleges, technical schools, and universities which are either part of the University System of Georgia or the Technical College System of Georgia. The USG has oversight of 35 colleges and universities, while the TCSG consists of 26 technical colleges.
The private institutions in the state include about 45 universities and colleges, including Emory University, the Savannah College of Arts and Design, Wesleyan College, and others.
In the University System of Georgia, the University of Georgia in Athens is the largest school, with nearly 35,000 students. The state of Georgia also provides a unique type of financial aid known as the HOPE Scholarship.
