New Jersey’s economy is an extremely healthy one, and its per capita personal income is ranked 3rd in the nation. Its many millionaires (The state has the country’s highest concentration of millionaire households.) probably hold jobs in the pharmaceutical industry, chemical development industry, or other scientific fields, as these sectors dominate the state’s economy. New Jersey’s economy is also comprised of telecommunications firms, food processing companies, and producers of electrical equipment. Tourism also drives the state’s economy, with hundreds of thousands of tourists flocking to the state’s most popular beach destination, Ocean City, each summer.
New Jersey isn’t just summer fun, however, because there are many schools available for prospective college students. There are several public schools, the largest and oldest of which is Rutgers University- New Brunswick. Rutgers enrolls well over 30,000 students and is one of only two public colleges in the country that was founded before the American Revolution. It offers over 100 bachelor programs, more than 100 masters programs, and 80 doctoral programs across 175 academic departments.
New Jersey is also home to smaller colleges, both public and private. The College of New Jersey, a public school in Ewing Township, for example, only enrolls around 6,000 students. Private religious institutions include schools such as Seton Hall University, the oldest and largest Catholic university in the state.
Also located in New Jersey is Princeton University. Princeton is an Ivy League school with no official religious affiliation and is one of the oldest, most famous, and most prestigious schools in the country.
