Wyoming Job Outlook
Wyoming, as the least populous state in the nation, does not have as many post-secondary educational opportunities as some other states, but there are still options available. The state is home to one public four-year school and one private four-year school, as well as several two-year schools and for-profits. The private four-year school, Wyoming Catholic College, is rather small, with an enrollment of under 400 students, but the public four-year school is much larger. The University of Wyoming in Laramie enrolls approximately 14,000 students and is quite old, having been founded a full four years before the state of Wyoming was even established.
Wyoming’s economy is driven mainly by the mineral extraction and travel tourism industries. Coal, natural gas, crude oil, uranium, and even diamonds are important materials that comprise the state’s main products. College graduates in Wyoming can therefore expect to enter a career somehow related to these important industries.
